Types of Fine Bubble Diffusers
2. Tube Diffusers
In the early tube diffuser, Saran wound or made from aluminum oxide. Recently, the new design is perforated membranes and nonrigid (rubber-HDPE) porous plastic.
Configuration
The
holder for the ceramic or rigid
porous plastic media consist of two end caps held together by a
connecting rod through the center. The rod is threaded into the feed end
of the holder, the media and outer end cap installed, and a hex nut placed
on the threaded rod to secure the assembly. The internal support frame is
made from plastic. The membrane is usually not perforated at the air inlet
point so when the air is turned of, the liquid head collapses the membrane
against the support frame. An internal flap prevents backflow into the
piping system.
For the nonrigid porous plastic diffuser, the support frame is made of
stainless steel or fiberglass reinforced plastic. A check valve built in
for preventing liquid backflow into air piping.
Installation
How
to install tube diffuser? The 3/4 inch NPT is for attachment to air piping
system. The depth of tube submergence in the basin is within
30 cm of bottom.
Tube diffusers are often installed down the center or along one or both
long sides of the aeration tank.( Mid-width, single and dual spiral roll
pattern). Usually above methods can offer better mixing for whole the tank
than total floor coverage or cross roll pattern.
